Lost Mountain, their flagship wine, has been recognized as an American Grand Cru—hailed by experts as one of the world’s finest wines. Like many great adventures, their story began with a dream: to create an iconic American wine in an unlikely place. Lost Mountain Vineyards is under the dedicated stewardship of winemaker Joshua Grainer. After honing his craft across the U.S., France, and Australia, Joshua joined Lost Mountain for its inaugural vintage in 2008. On any given day, he can be found in the vineyard, cellar, and tasting room—carefully tending to each stage of the winemaking process and sharing the story of Lost Mountain’s wines. 

Grainer’s dedication to quality and craftsmanship earned him the prestigious title of Master of Wine in 2023, making him the first in Virginia to achieve this distinction. With a deep understanding of East Coast viticulture, he is committed to unveiling this pioneering region’s hidden potential and showcasing the inspiring beauty of Lost Mountain.
