Compris Vineyard is a small, family-owned estate in Oregon’s Chehalem Mountains. Owners Dru and Erin Allen came to wine after careers outside the industry, drawn first as wine lovers and eventually as full-time farmers. In 2020 they took the leap, moving their lives onto a 12.5-acre hillside and committing themselves to stewarding this single piece of ground.
The vineyard is planted primarily to Pinot Noir, along with Syrah, Gamay, Chardonnay, and a few small experimental blocks. The Allens farm with an emphasis on soil health, biodiversity, and low-input practices, working row by row rather than chasing volume. Winemaker Aaron Kendall, whose experience includes time at Adelsheim and Beaux Frères, carries that same mindset into the cellar. He favors small fermentations, thoughtful use of oak, and minimal intervention, allowing the character of each block to come through. Together, Aaron, Dru, and Erin aim to make wines that are balanced, textural, and clearly tied to their place.
Music quietly runs through the story of Compris. Many of the wines take their names from songs that matter to Dru and Erin, a nod to the way a great bottle—like a favorite record—can mark a moment in time and bring people together. For Hearts Delight, Compris is honored to share a glimpse of their corner of the Willamette Valley with Washington, D.C., and grateful for the opportunity to support an event that celebrates generosity, community, and the simple pleasure of a well-made glass of wine.
