Paradigm Winery was established in 1991 by Ren and Marilyn Harris, who have been farming together in Napa Valley since 1967, after meeting in high school in 1958. Marilyn’s family has deep roots in Napa Valley, farming there since the 1890s, while Ren is a sixth-generation Californian. The couple purchased the 55-acre estate in 1975 and began replanting the original vineyard. Located in the Oakville AVA, Paradigm farms Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Zinfandel, and Petit Verdot. Ren and Marilyn are pillars in the Napa Valley community, having contributed to the creation of the Ag Preserve and the Napa Valley Grapegrowers. Their vineyard is certified California organically farmed, and they were among the first members of 1% for the Planet, donating 1% of their total revenue to environmental nonprofits since 2002.
Representing Paradigm is Mary Ann Turrentine, Director of Sales and Marketing. Originally from the blue ridge mountains of North Carolina, Mary Ann earned a degree in Agribusiness from the University of Georgia (UGA). As the daughter of a flight attendant, she was exposed to international travel at a young age, sparking an early interest in wine. Her enthusiasm for wine led her to participate in UGA’s viticulture and enology program in Cortona, Italy.
Following her academic adventures, Mary Ann embarked on a diverse journey, including a marketing internship in San Miguel, Panama, and a grape, olive, and fig harvest at Kloovenburg in Riebek Kastel, South Africa. With a desire to live in a mediterranean climate, she moved west in May 2012 to take a hospitality position at Girard Winery in Napa Valley.
Mary Ann joined the team at Paradigm in 2014 attracted to their familial vibe and shared values. She remains active in the community as a member of the Marketing and Membership committees with Napa Valley Grapegrowers.
