For Dominick, making wine at Crimson Lane is a return to the winemaking roots of his ancestors and an opportunity to pay respects to his Italian heritage. One could say winemaking is in his blood. What started as a small flame in childhood continued to ignite his soul throughout the years he spent as an IT executive as he kept making and experimenting with his “cellar wine.” As fate would have it, one Sunday night dinner amidst talking about and tasting wine, he received an invitation to work harvest in Burgundy at Domaine Dublère, and the rest, they say, is history. Returning to the States, Dominick knew his purpose was to make wine, no matter the cost, which he pursued with uncompromising
focus.
Dominick cut his teeth as an apprentice under one of the best winemakers in the state, Jim Law of Linden Vineyards. Crediting Jim for much of his hands-on expertise, Dominick moved on to successful positions at Delaplane Cellars and Ingleside Vineyards, cultivating lifelong relationships and an encyclopedia of wine knowledge along the way.
