Lingua Franca represents a fine tradition of bringing people of different backgrounds to common ground, sharing conversation and enjoyment. Inspired by an extraordinary vineyard site in the Eola-Amity Hills of the Willamette Valley and following low-impact, organic, and biodynamic farming principles, we planted our estate vineyard with different combinations of rootstock and budwood to best reflect the varying soil conditions, resulting in fruit of unparalleled purity and elegance. Widely respected as one of the top winemakers in Burgundy, Dominique Lafon took notice of this exceptional vineyard site and joined Larry Stone, alongside winemaking protégé Thomas Savre, to craft uniquely expressive wines harnessing the unique terroir of Oregon. 

Larry Stone is the founder of Lingua Franca. Within a few months of becoming the ninth Master Sommelier in the United States, Larry Stone became the first American to win the prestigious Best International Sommelier in French Wines competition in Paris. His career spans 30 years as a restaurateur and sommelier at the Four Seasons, Charlie Trotter’s, and Rubicon Restaurant among others, and culminates at Lingua Franca where his dream of cultivating an exceptional Oregon vineyard and making honest wines is realized.
