Cory Chunn, originally from Lewes, Delaware, began working in kitchens at just nine years old, inspired by a large Italian and Polish family where food was always at the center of connection and tradition. Over the years, his culinary journey has taken him across the country, cooking in Alabama, Colorado, Portland, Oregon, Charlotte, North Carolina, and now Washington, DC.
Throughout his career, Cory has refined a style rooted in classic French technique, shaped by experiences with notable restaurants and chefs, including Michael Jordan’s Steak House and Punch Bowl Social alongside Hugh Acheson. He went on to serve as Executive Chef of La Belle Helene in Charlotte under Jaime Lynch, a Top Chef alum, where he further developed his passion for refined, technique-driven cuisine.
Cory competed on Top Chef Masters Season 5 Battle of the Sous Chefs, showcasing his skill and creativity on a national stage. In March 2024, he relocated to Washington, DC, where he now serves as Executive Chef of Pastis. There, he continues to bring a thoughtful, technique-forward approach to classic French brasserie cooking, blending tradition with a deep respect for ingredients and hospitality.
