As a native of Washington DC, Cleverdon graduated in 2001 from the prestigious Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. Upon graduation, he worked as a chef de partie at Craft, Tom Colicchio’s flagship restaurant in New York City, before relocating to the nation’s capital being appointed executive sous chef at Vidalia and Woodward Table. In 2011, he served as butcher & chef de partie at Fiola and Fiola Mare under the leadership of acclaimed chef-owner Fabio Trabocchi. In 2012, Cleverdon served as chef de partie at Michael Mina’s Bourbon Steak at the Four Seasons Hotel, Washington, D.C. In 2014, he accepted a position to serve as executive chef at award-winning mixologist Derek Brown’s popular Eat The Rich, The Passenger and Columbia Room.

Prior to joining Blue Duck Tavern, Cleverdon worked for two years at Siren by Robert Wiedmaier. He opened the prestigious seafood spot in 2017 as executive sous chef and quickly climbed the ranks before being named executive chef in 2018. Under his leadership, the restaurant was awarded a Michelin star in 2019. Following the pandemic, Andrew had brief stint at Gravitas and was opening chef de cuisine at Michele’s before taking over Mintwood Place.
