Land of Promise wines are born from the renowned Terra de Promissio vineyard in Sonoma Coast. Charles and Diana Karren, initially focused on grape growing, found themselves propelled into winemaking after the high acclaim and rapid sell-out of wines made from their fruit by top wineries like Kosta Browne, Kistler, and Williams Selyem. Their vineyard, Terra de Promissio, represents the realization of their American Dream, producing sought-after Pinot Noir known for its distinct terroir expression. Notably, fruit from Terra de Promissio contributed to Kosta Browne’s 2009 Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir, which won Wine Spectator’s coveted “Wine of the Year” award in 2011.
Inspired by the diverse winemaking styles she observed being applied to her grapes, Diana Karren took the helm of Land of Promise’s winemaking efforts in 2013. Her deep passion and intimate understanding of Terra de Promissio, cultivated through years of hands-on vineyard work, are evident in every bottle. Today, Diana crafts four distinct Pinot Noir wines, each showcasing the unique terroir of specific vineyard blocks and the characteristics of the different clones. “I’m an immigrant to this country,” Diana Karren reflects, “and, for me, my vision for Land of Promise is for it to be an all-American wine where people remember what America is all about: a country of immigrants that believed in God. But it is more than that; America is an idea, and brave men and women fought for this idea. My goal behind Land of Promise is to unite people and bring them back to basics.”
