Q: What is the best gift you’ve ever received?

A: Flying lessons from my wife.

Q: Who was your mentor? What was the most important thing you learned?

A: Honestly, it would be my mom. She taught me there was nothing that couldn’t be achieved if you worked hard, persevered through challenges and failures, and kept a positive attitude. I bring this spirit to everything I do.

Q: Website What do you want your legacy to be (personally or professionally)?

A: Professionally, I want to make Coeur de Terre a place that thrives for many generations and that we leave this place better than we found it. Personally, I would love to see one of my kids take over the winery and continue the tradition in our family. I hope my legacy to be a little of what I mentioned about my mom. I hope I can instill those ideas into my children.

Coeur de Terre Vineyard was established in 1998 by Scott and Lisa Neal. The vineyard is located in the Coast Range foothills of the McMinnville AVA west of the town of McMinnville, Oregon. The winery is located on the estate vineyard which is comprised of undulating hillsides of a very diverse soil profile encompassing many variations of both sedimentary and volcanic origins. The property totals 50 acres of which 23 acres are cultivated to mostly Pinot Noir along with small blocks of Syrah, Riesling and Gruener Veltliner. CdT is focused on organically producing expressive, estate grown wines that demonstrate the diversity of soil, elevation and exposure found on our estate.
