Château Rocheyron is a small, 8,4 ha (21 acres) vineyard in the Saint-Emilion region of Bordeaux. Laying 4,6 km east of Saint-Emilion, the vineyards are on the famous Limestone plateau, one of the most original soil compositions of the entire Bordeaux region.
The 70 % Merlot and 30 % Cabernet Franc make up the grape composition. Vinified in small raw cement tanks and aged for up to 16 months in 20 % new oak barrels we strive to make an almost naked expression of our great soils. Fermented with natural yeast and farmed biodynamically since 2014 nothing is spared to give the purest expression of our wine and site.
Chateau Rocheyron is jointly owned by Peter Sisseck and Silvio Denz. Peter Sisseck started his career in 1983 in Bordeaux . In 1990 he moved to Spain where he founded HACIENDA MONASTERIO in the Ribera del Duero region.
In 1995 he founded DOMINIO DE PINGUS a small single vineyard winery that today is recognized as one of the leading wines of Spain. He also produces FLOR DE PINGUS from the same winery as “vin de village“ from the village of LA HORRA.
In 2007 seeing that the old vineyards that had made Ribera del Duero so famous in the past was fast disappearing he founded the PSI winery to help preserve the old vines by helping the growers with fair contracts.
In 2017 he bought BODEGAS SAN FRANSICO JAVIER in the Sherry District in order to make FINO from two specific vineyards, a first in the region .
