Red Wolf Imports was founded by husband and wife team Alyssa and Ian Wolf after a trip to South Africa’s wine lands in 2014. Alyssa and Ian were struck by how limited the South African Wine Industry was represented back in their home city of Washington D.C. They set about changing that. Red Wolf Imports selects wines from underrepresented regions around the world, sharing wines that US wine drinkers would otherwise never have access to. Follow the Red Wolf. Discover your own classics.
Babylonstoren is one of South Africa’s relatively newer wineries, with it’s first vintage in 2011.Cellar master Charl Coetzee works with his winemaking team – winemaker Klaas Stoffberg and assistant Marina Laubser- to make wines that represent their unique terroir. “Our wines are a combination of the very essence of Babylonstoren – keeping things simple and as true to the earth as possible. Truth to the area we are situated in on the slopes of Simonsberg, andsimplicity by making elegant and balanced wines as natural as possible.”
Babylonstoren goes above and beyond growing wine. Babylonstoren is a farm with fields of fruits, vegetables, and herbs, all of which contribute to its unique terroir. Babel, the winery’s restaurant, is gaining local and international press for its cuisine (all sourced on the farm), and the hotel on site has been ranked top 20 in the world by Conde Naste.
Most importantly, Babylonstoren is about the people who work there. Employees are provided free lunch daily, and their children’s education is funded by the farm.
