George Levkoff, the sole employee at george wine company, was born and raised on a small island in the southern part of New York State commonly referred to as The Big Apple.  Following eighteen years in NYC, George went to Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, The University of Chicago Graduate School of Business, and The University of Houston Law Center.  George then moved to Los Angeles and became a United States Government Bond trader.  About ten years into the fourteen year bond trading career, George had a Russian RiverValley pinot noir wine epiphany at dinner, and vowed to move to Healdsburg, California some day to make pinot noir.  Four years later, George quit his job, sold his house, and moved to Healdsburg, California.

After working four harvests at Williams Selyem Winery (1999-2002), George established george wine company in 2003 with a little over one hundred cases of pinot noir.  In 2012 george wine company will celebrate the tenth anniversary.  Total production should be around a thousand cases. The wine is unfined, unfiltered, unadulterated, made using gravity with one hundred percent Russian River Valley pinot noir.  The goal is to get the grapes in the bottle gently and efficiently, and create balanced wine where the fruit is the star, as alcohol and oak are reduced to a supporting role.  george pinot noir has been purchased and served by over a dozen Master     Sommeliers, and is poured in some of the finest restaurants in America.
