Philippe Dhalluin

philippe dhalluin moutonPhilippe Dhalluin was born in 1957 in the north of France. Due to his father who worked in aviation, he was delighted at the age of 16 when the latter landed at Bordeaux.

When he started his further studies he discovered the Institute of Œnology and winemaking became his passion.  He qualified in 1982 and his first job was in Peru as winemaker at Tacama Winery.  Philippe never looked back.

In 1985 he returned to Bordeaux as manager of Château Beaumont.  Then from 1988-2003 he managed Château Branaire Ducru.

In 2003 Philippine de Rothschild invited him to become Winemaker and General Director at Mouton.  2004 was his first vintage.  Today he is Managing Director and has total responsibility for all the Châteaux – Mouton Rothschild, d’Armailhac, Clerc Milon, Domaine de Baronarques in the Languedoc – belonging to the children of the Baroness, Camille Sereys de Rothschild, Philippe Sereys de Rothschild and Julien de Beaumarchais de Rothschild . He also jointly oversees Opus One in California with Michael Silacci, and Almaviva in Chile with Michel Friou.

Philippe is married with 29 year old twins, Josephine and Jacques, and his wife, Marie, born Stonestreet, is also an oenologist, descended from an English family that arrived in Bordeaux in the 16th century. Thanks to her, he is now considered as a “Bordelais”…
