PEJU is a small, family-owned and family-run winery located in the heart of the Napa Valley. Farming organically and sustainably, their estate-grown fruit develops into wines that exhibit a graceful pairing of power and elegance. Twenty-one award-winning wines, exquisite architecture, lush gardens, an art gallery, and our commitment to superior hospitality make for an unparalleled wine country experience at Peju.
Sara Fowler, a native Californian, grew up working on her family’s 400-acre organic farm and got her start in the wine industry working at Kendall-Jackson Winery in the mid 1980’s while in high school. After completing her Viticulture and Enology degree at Fresno State, Sara worked as the Assistant Winemaker at both Franciscan Estate and Mt. Veeder Winery. Sara’s early winemaking experience also included stints with Quintessa, Veramonte and Estancia. In 2006 Sara became the Head Winemaker at Peju and during her tenure has achieved organic certification on the 30-acre Peju Rutherford estate, implemented sustainable farming practices on all 400+ acre vineyard properties and instituted mapping of all of the properties into separate vineyard blocks to assist in her unique blending style. Known for her blending expertise, Sara’s focus has always been on the quality and consistency of Peju wines. Sara currently lives in St. Helena with her Husband Matt and three sons. Her interests include travel, gourmet cooking, and wine education.
